What is Acupuncture ?The intent of Acupuncture therapy is to promote health and alleviate pain and suffering. The method by which this is accomplished, though it may seem strange and mysterious to many, it has been tested over thousands of years and continues to be validated today.
The prespective from which an Acupuncturist view health and sickness hinges on concepts of "Vital energy," energetic balance" and energetic imbalance. "Just as the Western medical doctor monitors the blood flowing through blood vessels and the messages traveling via the nervous system, the Acupuncturist assesses the flow and distribution of this "Vital energy" within its pathways, know as "meridians and channels".
The traditional Acupuncture technique involves the insertion of several small needles into the skin and underlying tissues at specific points in the body by fine, slender needles. It's able to influence health and sickness by stimulating certain areas along the "meridians".
A Laser Acupuncture typically aims a beam of light from a Laser tube onto an Acupuncture point,
stimulating it similar to the way Acupuncture needles do. The visible red laser beam, radiating from helium and neon gases, usually heats up the Acupuncture paint. During the laser acupuncture procedure, a practitioner may hold the beam steadily on an acupuncture point for a period that can range from ten seconds to a maximum of two minutes. The duration of the beam usually depends on the amount of tissue the laser must penetrate, and the power the acupuncturist needs to apply on a point.
Laser Acupuncture is primarily used to serve two purposes: an painless, anesthetic effect and the stimulation of acupuncture points in a therapeutic program. The procedure has some distinct advantages over the tradional needle ethod. Many patients who are usually afraid of needles, such as children, prefer laser Acupuncture. Use of laser makes it typically a noninvasive, aseptic procedure, which significantly pain free and recovery time associated with invasive treatments. Generally, laser acupuncture can treat the same range of complaints as needle acupuncture.
What is Electro Acupuncture ?Electro Acupuncture is the application of electrical current to acupoints on a patient. This can be done with either electrodes or alligator clips clamped to needles. Once the electrodes or needles or needles are in place, a box which controls the current is turned on and the electro acupuncture can begin. The patient is the left alone and the electrical current continues for 15-20 minutes.
